All therapists are registered and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health Professionals. The staff has extensive experience in treating orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. Virginia Sports Medicine Institute has a medical team consisting of five physical therapists, all with Master's or Doctoral level degrees. In addition, our clinic has three physical therapy assistants with Associate degrees and each with greater than fifteen years of clinical experience. The final component of our rehabilitative team consists of four gym technicians who are trained extensively on the proper use of our gym equipment as well as the appropriate technique for prescribed exercises. General Policies

Patients are seen by appointment only and must have a current prescription from a physician, no more than 1 month old. Prescriptions from out of state physicians are welcome. Your first appointment usually lasts 1 to 1 ½ hours and follow-up visits run about one hour. Please come with proper work out attire (i.e. tennis shoes, shorts or sweat pants and loose fitting shirt).

Due to the great demand for appointments it is advisable to schedule follow-up appointments in advance to avoid delays in treatment and in order to get the appointment times that are convenient to your schedule. We request 24 hour notification in case of a cancellation.

At the time of your first appointment, you will be evaluated by a physical therapist to determine the extent of your injury and address any problem areas. Once your initial evaluation is complete an individualized treatment program is developed to help you return to your normal activities as quickly as possible. Your physician is then advised of pertinent evaluation findings and will be sent updates as your treatment progresses.

VSI is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 7 pm. After hours voice mail is available to receive messages as needed.
